I believe that the perfect wedding is only possible through the perfect wedding planning process, so I’ve focused my attention on delivering a luxury experience that transforms a daunting, stressful process into an exciting and joyous journey down the aisle- details covered!
When Southern brides and grooms have style and grace, they say “I do” in a stunning ceremony under a 398 year old oak tree! This wedding was the epitome of a Southern soiree! After Ross picked Katy up for one of the best first kisses we’ve ever seen, their bridesmaids strolled under parasols, while the guys cooled down with their Abita beers! Then they danced for hours under one grand chandelier! When the party was ending, their guests donned beads and masks as they waved their hankies to parade the couple out of the door! A perfect night under that gorgeous oak!

Take a stylish couple from California and plan their special day on the grounds of an iconic New Orleans plantation, what do you get? The epitome of rustic chic!
When we started designing Rachael and Daniel’s wedding, we were so excited about the personal details and the southern charm of Destrehan Plantation! Rachael walked to her soon-to-be husband down a candlelit aisle and they said “I do” (emotionally romantic to the max) under the canopy of a spanish moss covered live oak – what could be more picture perfect…?!
After becoming Mr. & Mrs., guests followed the winding path to the reception that kicked off in the plantation’s restored barn. Festoon lighting and paper lanterns, burlap and lace table runners, and low, lush florals are just a few of the details that turned up the beauty of the space.
As for the personal touches, we were “awww”-ing over their state-shaped cookie display with the most adorable little signs. “California – our meeting spot. Oklahoma – connects our dots. Louisiana – we tied the knot.”

On the most gorgeous grounds of Houmas House Plantation, this bubbly little couple from New York tied the knot! They were the kind of couple that I will always keep in touch with- so thoughtful, so sincere, and so in love! At the end of our initial consultation, the bride “went to the restroom” and came back with champagne to toast to our planning partnership! A new bride and bubbly?! I was hooked!
When we started the design process, her vision was an Elegant Swamp Theme! Sounded like a contradiction at first, but then our team and I knew just what to do! And we loved designing something different- organic and glamorous! Turned out to be the perfect combination and Southern Weddings Blog loved it and featured it, too! See their national post here!
Welcome to our elegant swamp!
Lori and Ryan’s (sweet, sweet) Testimonial:
“The first – and best- decision I made in planning our wedding. I cannot sing Elyse’s praises enough, and shiver at the thought of doing it all without her. For starters, we live in NYC, so her knowledge of the New Orleans area and local vendors was invaluable. As far as her vision and design – she is a gifted and creative designer, but also a great listener and puts her brides’ wishes first. Whereas others (even my MOH) laughed when I said I wanted a “sophisticated swamp” theme, Elyse saw it as an opportunity and came back with the most elegant, southern-Louisiana-glam design I could have possibly dreamed of!
As a planner, she has a tireless work ethic, was always three steps ahead and thinks of EVERYTHING. She is very responsive to emails/calls/texts (which trust me, is a HUGE deal), and could teach Martha Stewart a thing or two about organization. Not to mention, she radiates a reassuring confidence and calming presence that just wraps you up like a big, fluffy towel right out of the dryer. I think one of the most helpful things to me was her decisiveness- and ability to help ME make decisions. No problem was ever too small or too complicated, and she never looked down on me like I was a silly girl (although I know I was at times!). I can’t emphasize enough how awesome it was to have someone who could relate to me, and treated every question I had as a valid concern. She never forced her opinion on me, but helped me think things through and make choices that I could feel amazing about.
Most importantly, she is clearly passionate about her job, and even more so about her brides. Her enthusiasm for weddings, design, and marriage is infectious, and even though I knew she was busy planning dozens of other weddings, I never once felt like I was anything other than special. She was my advocate and ally when dealing with vendors or feuding family members, and made every element of our wedding day come together in the most seamless way imaginable. I was able to just sit back and enjoy my big day because Elyse had made sure everything was taken care of before hand, and she and her amazing team took on the day with the precision and efficiency of a SWAT team. I would have paid her three times as much for the peace of mind that came with having her on my side, and even my 75-year-old father, who doesn’t compliment anyone, was still bragging six weeks later at Christmas about what an amazing job Elyse did.
I could go on and on about Elyse and Tying the Knot Weddings, but to sum it up – I doubt that many brides can say they feel as blessed to have met their coordinator as I do, and that they were sad the wedding was over because it meant not getting to talk to their coordinator regularly anymore. I didn’t know Elyse before I hired her, and odds are that I’ll never see her in person again, but I feel like she made such a difference in my wedding experience that I will always be indebted to her, and will definitely think of her as a friend – not just a coordinator. Book her NOW if you can, it will be the second best choice (after saying ‘yes,’ of course!) you’ll make!”

When pretty weddings are featured on blogs, I get very happy! But when pretty weddings are featured in magazines, I do a happy dance! This season’s issue of Southern Bride just came out with a three page spread of Ashley and Michael’s Roosevelt Hotel wedding! This glamorous and classic affair offered ample soft seating, mirrors galore, lush draping florals, and as many details as you can fit in one wedding!! One of my favorite elegant soirees that proves that weddings don’t have to be kitschy to get noticed!
Congrats to the happy couple for all of the love that their love has received from the press! You two deserve it all!

To say that Jack and I’s engagement party was the best night of our lives to date is an extreme understatement! But seeing our photos on Style Me Pretty took a very (very) close second! A dream come true! If you haven’t gotten a chance to view their take on our soiree, it’s worth taking a look here!
When you’re in the industry and planning your own wedding, it’s safe to say that everyone sets the bar pretty high! I just want to design a beautiful space for beautiful people to make beautiful memories! When planning our engagement party, my first goal was to find a beautiful venue that no one had ever used before! When antique shopping on Royal Street in the French Quarter, my friends and I walked past the Bevolo Gas Lantern Museum! I just had to pop in and beg them to let me have my engagement party there! There’s nothing more New Orleans than 72 gas lanterns lining the wall! They agreed and I began dreaming of ways to make the space tell the story of our 10 year relationship!
As our guests arrived, they were greeted by our “guest book” table of 3 champagne bottles for the guests to write notes for us to read on wedding day (when we will finally get to enjoy the bottles)! I had to sneak a peek as I was packing them up and cried imagining myself in the wedding dress that they were describing!
I really wanted to accentuate the wall of lanterns, so I started pulling old photos that could chronicle our relationship: from the night that he asked me to be his girlfriend, through embarrassing dresses at proms, high school and college graduations, and ending with an instax photo of us that very night! Our guests were able to enjoy walking along the wall to watch our hair colors change and our love for each other grow!
We also brought in wine barrel tables and pews (with pillows) as creative ways for our guests to take a break from their heels! I loved the unique seating space!
My fiancé and I both love doberge cake, so it was only fitting that we had a couple of our favorite flavors for everyone to enjoy with us! We chose a cake with Salted Caramel Doberge, one with Blueberry Pancake Doberge, and the biggest hit, Lemon King Cake! We had enough for each guest to have a piece of each!
But most importantly, I knew that I needed an incredible photographer to capture all of these special moments on our journey down the aisle! So immediately after my engagement (and calling my parents and two best friends), I called my dear friend Greer of Greer G Photography! From the engagement photos, the engagement party, the bridal showers, couples showers, bridesmaids spa day, to wedding day, we are honored to have Greer behind the camera at all of our wedding events! Her talent is beyond describable!
I hope you all love our engagement party as much as we enjoyed living it! It was a truly magical and captured our personalities so perfectly! Cheers!

Jack and I’s very own engagement party has been featured on Style Me Pretty! Pinch me! My full take on the soiree coming soon!
When this chef and his fun loving fiancée started planning their wedding, they knew that they had to come back down to New Orleans to tie the knot! Chad had been working here when Katrina hit and stayed behind to work with the Marriott to cater for the rescue workers who were saving lives and prepping the city for it’s people’s return! Such a generous soul! So Kristy and Chad knew that their wedding couldn’t be filled with the pomp and circumstance, but it HAD to be filled with incredibly delicious food and the best music Nola bands had to offer!
The couple loved being back here so much that they moved here together! Here’s their Nola wedding love story! Continue Reading
